Between our toes are nerve bundles. When there is either a growth of those bundles and/or a compression of the bones around those bundles, the result is an intense, excruciating foot pain. The most typical location of this type of pain is between the 2nd and 3rd or the 3rd and 4th toes. Treatment of this is best approach conservatively and involves the use of orthotics, manual and soft tissue therapies, and monitoring to avoid progression. In more serious cases or cases that are not responsive to conservative treatment, referral for surgical excision is considered.
