Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Numbness and tingling in the arm is the typical complaint of a patient with this thoracic outlet syndrome. It is a condition that occurs when there is compression of vessels and nerves in the area of the clavicle. This can occur from a number of muscles in the area and is often triggered with an injury. It can rarely be the cause of a cervical rib or the fibrous structure of a cervical rib, which is found in approximately 1% of the population. Management of this condition typically requires postural correction, muscle stretching and strengthening, and various muscle relaxing therapies, along with chiropractic adjusting.
